IRISH
Whiskey, traditionally known as Uisce Beatha, meaning “water of life” or “Aqua Vitae” in Latin, is believed to have its origins in Ireland. Written records date back to 1405 in an antique manuscript of a Gaelic origin called the Annals of Clonmacnoise.
The Irish monks brought the technique of distilling perfumes back to Ireland from their travels to the Mediterranean countries and later applied distillation to fermented grain to make whiskey.
Today you can find expressions of traditional popular styles such as Irish Pot Still whiskey and modern styles such as Single Malts finished in Japanese Mizunara oak.
This product category is typically fruity, floral, not smoky, and not peated, making it ideal for someone who wants a light flavor profile. Check my reviews on Irish whiskey here.
My mission is to provide a great educational and entertaining experience by guiding the tasting experience. Due to alcohol law in the state of Georgia, the host/hostess must make all alcohol purchases. However, whisky suggestions can be provided upon request.
